The New Portsmouth Campus
Welcome to the New Portsmouth Campus web page! This page will keep you updated on the progress of the construction of the new campus located at Victory Village in the City of Portsmouth.
Background
Tidewater Community College and the City of Portsmouth worked together for several years developing a plan to relocate the current Portsmouth Campus, which is located in northeast Suffolk, into the City of Portsmouth. After the voters approved a statewide bond referendum in 2002, planning for the relocation of the campus began. The purpose of relocating the campus was to better serve the citizens of Portsmouth while maintaining the comprehensive programmatic offerings of the campus.
After several years of intensive planning by the faculty, staff, administrators, and architects, construction is approaching completion on the New Portsmouth Campus at Victory Village in the City of Portsmouth. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus was held on May 16, 2008—for pictures of this ceremony.
The New Campus
The new campus consists of four two-story buildings and is located near the intersection of I-264 and Victory Boulevard in an area of the City known as Victory Village. The relocation and construction of the new campus is an exciting event in the history of the college and illustrates the importance of partnership to the college. The college has benefitted from excellent partners in the City of Portsmouth, the Portsmouth Public Schools, the Beazley Foundation, and the business community.
The new campus opened for registration and enrollment on December 21, 2009, and will start spring semester classes on January 11, 2010. Please visit this site regularly for updated information about the progress of the construction and the opening of the New Portsmouth Campus.
