How do I find my professor’s contact information?

Use TCC’s e-directory website to find contact information for college staff and faculty. Can’t find your faculty member's information?  Contact the TCC Information Center for assistance, call:  (757) 822-1122, 1-800-371-0898 or email: info@tcc.edu.

 Can I go to any campus for classes?

 Yes, once you have been accepted as a student to Tidewater Community College, you may take classes on any campus.

How do I get a transcript? Is there a fee? How long does it take?

Visit the transcript website. You will find information to:

  • Request your transcript
  • View your transcript online
  • We do not charge a transcript processing fee
  • Transcripts are usually mailed out in three-to-five business days.
  • Due to federal privacy regulations, we cannot release information on your student record without written permission that includes your signature. We cannot accept emailed transcript requests.

How can I transfer credits from another college to TCC?

We do evaluate credits from other colleges and universities for possible transfer to our college. To have credits reviewed for transfer, you will need to follow these steps.

  1. Complete and submit a TCC Application for Admission form. Be sure to include the degree you seek. 
  2. Have an Official Copy of your previous college/university transcript sent to our Central Records Office, 7000 College Drive, Portsmouth, VA  23703
  3. Submit an Evaluation of Previous Educational Experiences Form to the Central Records Office.             

Evaluations take four to six weeks for processing, you will receive a letter providing information on the courses that can be accepted towards your selected degree program.

When do classes begin?

All the important dates for each semester can be found on the Academic Calendar.

How can I change my program plan/major?

In order to change your major, you will need to complete a Plan Change Form and submit that form to your campus Enrollment Services Office. The forms are available in the campus counseling offices. We do recommend that you talk with an advisor about changing your curriculum plan. In some cases, changing your curriculum plan can affect your financial aid eligibilty. We recommend that financial aid students speak with a staff member in the financial aid office before changing majors.

What is the number to the Financial Aid Hotline?

The Financial Aid Hotline phone number is (757) 822-1355. The hotline provides a recorded message announcing deadlines and refund check mailing dates.

What is the FAFSA school code?

TCC’s Federal Financial Aid code number is 003712.

Can I make payments on my tuition?

Yes, you can use the FACTS Tuition Management plan to make tuition payments. Information on the FACTS plan is available on the TCC website and in all campus business offices.

  

How do I get my Financial Aid refund?

Financial aid refund checks are mailed to the home address that is listed on your TCC student record. If you move, please be sure to update your mailing address.

How do I use my Financial Aid at the bookstore?

If you have a remaining aid balance after tuition and fees are deducted, you may use the remaining aid at the College bookstore.  The dates that you may charge books to your financial aid account are posted outside the bookstore.

If you apply late for financial aid, you may experience a 24-hour delay from the time that your award is applied to when you may use the remaining balance at the bookstore.

Take your picture ID (driver’s license or student ID) with you to the bookstore to facilitate using financial aid for your purchases.

 

 Admissions

Do I have to make an appointment to take the Placement test?

Appointments are not necessary to take the placement/assessment tests. Visit the Assessment Testing for Placement website or contact the Information Center for a copy of the testing schedule.

Do I have to make an appointment to see a counselor?

Appointments are not necessary to see a TCC counselor. Counselors see students on a first-come, first-served basis during the regular office hours for student services.

I’ve applied to TCC, what’s my next step?

Once your application for admission has been processed, you will need to take the college's assessment tests. Information on the tests, the testing schedule, and sample test questions can be found on the Assessment Testing for Placement website.

After taking the assessment tests, you will need to attend a New Student Advising session. During the advising session a TCC counselor will review your test scores and help you determine your course plan.

 

I applied online, how do I know if I’ve been accepted?

Acceptance letters are usually mailed to your home address within three weeks of your application being processed. You may also contact the TCC Information Center to check your application status.

What is my PIN Number for TouchTone Enrollment?

Your PIN number is set as your birth date in six digit format (MM/DD/YY). Remember to enter a zero before single digit months and dates (i.e. June 5, 1978 would be 060578).

How do I check my schedule?

  • You can log in to your Student Information System (SIS) account to view your schedule information.
  • You may also call the TouchTone registration system (757-822-2000) to hear a recorded listing of your courses.
