SACCR’s Mission

The Southeastern Association for Community College Research, a nonprofit professional organization, promotes:

  • excellence in research and planning for two-year institutions
  • professional development for planners and researchers,
  • communication and interaction among members and other organizations,
  • exploration of local, state and national issues affecting research and planning, and
  • activities in two-year post-secondary institutions
 

SACCR: Past and Present

SACCR, formed in 1971 as a special interest group for community college research, is a regional organization of the American Educational Research Association. In addition to AERA, SACCR is affiliated with the Association for Institutional Research. SACCR’s region includes Alabama, Arkansas, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and the territory of Puerto Rico.

 
SACCR Membership

SACCR members represent:

  • research and planning functions for community, two-year technical, and junior colleges.
  • state and regional agencies relevant to community colleges.
  • Two-year, senior college and graduate institutions with interests focused upon higher education at the two-year level.
Membership Length
SACCR membership is for one year and is valid July 1 through June 30.
 

Membership Categories

SACCR offers three types of membership.

  • Individual membership is available to institutional researchers, planning directors, administrators and other staff from any professional organization.
  • Institutional Membership is available to organizations actively involved in two-year college research and planning. Each organization is allowed three representatives as institutional members.
  • Student membership is available.
 

Membership Benefits

  • SACCR offers opportunities to network with professionals within the region involved in research and planning activities for two-year postsecondary institutions of higher education.
  • SACCR promotes research interests and activities by supporting developmental and progressive presentations and workshops.
  • A SACCR member may participate in all activities of the organization and receive publications from the organization.
 

SACCR Annual Conference

SACCR’s conferences are held annually in July or August in one of the Southeastern states. The conferences offer opportunities for members to present papers, attend presentations, and network with other members.
 

SACCR Newsletter

SACCR’s newsletter is published three times per year, providing information on Association activities, members, and national research activities. Special research studies and research findings also are published.
