1001 Basic Contractor Business Licensing
This eight-hour course is designed to provide a basic
overview of the statutes and regulations that govern contractor
licensing in Virginia. This course is recognized by the
Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Professional and
Occupational Regulation, Board of Contractors. Text and
handouts are included in the course cost. Classes fill up quickly and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Spring 09 Enrollment: Effective January 1, 2009 the cost for this course will be $175.

of business management subjects for contractor license applicants

taking the "A" and/or "B" contractor

BLDG 1003 Building Code Basics: The International Residential Code
This two-day course is designed to provide an overview of the regulations that regulate the safety of residential construction. This fast-paced course incorporates the current model building code used by the State of Virginia. The course uses the International Code (IRC) as a basis for understanding the requirements for building safety requirements for housing. It includes a review of every aspect of the IRC including the following: Administrative Provisions; Building Planning; Foundations and Footings; Floor Framing; Wall Framing; Roof Framing; Wall coverings and roofing; Chimneys and fireplaces; Energy Efficiency; HVAC Equipment; Plumbing Installations; Electrical Wiring; and Building Standards.

1004 ESL for Construction
ESL for Construction Workers is a 12-week program. Students
will learn adn develop basic skills and proficient use of
English as a second language. This course includes construction
English, English in the workplace, and some life skills.
Students will gain necessary skills to identify in English
basic hand and power tools, basic safety rules, communication
skills, basic life skills, basic heavy equipment adn their
use in English, and application and communication of selected
basic and essential workplace skills in English. NO CLASSES SCHEDULED AT THIS TIME.
