Discovering and Navigating Niche Markets (Click here for registration form)

“Discovering Niche Markets” will provoke you into action to reach your stakeholders, (donors, customers, members, whomever) with greater success than ever before using new twists on old methods, as well as cutting edge and emerging technologies, innovative marketing plans and resources, and some little-used, often-neglected techniques. By previewing your own marketing materials and learning from others’ successes, participants will explore ways to go from good to great.

  • common marketing mistakes
  • basic rules for marketing development
  • methods for discovering and navigating niche markets
  • the positioning statement
  • ways to use the web 2.0

There is power in politics and getting people on the bandwagon. Learn to harness your organization’s potential clout in this course on effective advocacy and political action. This course focuses on initiatives that work at both the grassroots and legislative levels to help accomplish your organization’s goals. Topics include:

  • strategies for effective advocacy in public arenas
  • communicating with public policy makers
  • influencing legislative action
  • mobilizing grassroots support
  • lobbying dos and don’ts

People Smart: The Art of Building Effective Relationships (Click here for registration form)

It has happened to too many of us at work at some point or another… We engage in conversation with a co-worker, employee or client and walk away from that conversation thinking we fully understood one another, only to discover that we each had completely different ideas about what was said and what was meant. Why, you may ask? Because the dialogue between men and women, between staff and management, between service provider and customer, or any two given individuals, can be cross-cultural communication. Many times we actually speak two different languages.  Often it's not what was said, but how it was said.  Basic communication differences can originate from the part of the country you come from, ethnic background, age, class, and just plain old personality quirks and all resulting in different conversational styles--different ways of saying the same thing. And when we add these already existing differences to our own internal dialogue—the way in which we communicate with ourselves, our internal cognitions-- it can become a runaway train. Knowing the simple yet profound differences that exist in our conversational styles, and how they work, can give you a brand new way of understanding what goes on when we speak across some of the most valuable lines - from gender to management. This course will provide you with the essential understanding necessary to equip you with the ability to change both the climate and direction of some of your most valuable exchanges, ultimately improving the quality of your relationships.  From a client to a manager … knowledge is personal power!

Project Management: Strategies and Tactics for Success  (Click here for registration form)

Do you find yourself continually juggling priorities and deadlines?  Do you need to get organized and break down the barriers to personal productivity?  This course examines the key issues and activities involved in effective project management: defining, planning, and implementing. Participants will learn how to speak the language of project management and apply basic project management methodology to ensure project success.

 It is a highly interactive learning experience devoted to:

  • planning, organizing, and carving out timelines
  • leading teams and using resources effectively
  • flexing with changing conditions while maintaining quality services
  • responsibly accounting for all aspects of the project
