Orientation Classes LRC@TCC

Student being instructed.Help students improve the quality of their sources, read professional literature relevant to their classes, and avoid the frustration of information overload by scheduling a library session:

Library instruction sessions provide an introduction to the facilities, resources, and services the LRCs offer. Sessions, which last about an hour, can be customized to cover specific subject areas or class assignments.

Classes may include components of FLASH information literacy objectives such as

  • Defining the need for information
  • Selecting from a variety of sources
  • Understanding research terms and concepts.
  • Locating sources using the library catalog, indexes, databases, etc.
  • Effective use of key word or subject search techniques
  • Evaluating sources
  • Citing sources
  • Responsible use of information
  • Access electronic resources from off-campus.
