The FLASH acronym represents the information literacy plan
in the Learning Resources Centers. FLASH combines materials,
activities, and delivery methods in a deliberate move from
teaching mechanics to teaching critical thinking. Designed
to align with performance indicators of the information literacy
core competency, FLASH provides criteria for assessment. As
students gain transferable skills that they can use to search
a library catalog, electronic database, or the Internet they
also learn about the evaluation and ethical use of information.
These are the skills they can use in their pursuit of lifelong
learning.
