AccessScience includes the 8th edition of the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, updated continuously, as well as biographies of scientists, late-breaking science and technology news, new references links to related web sites. (McGraw-Hill Companies)

Academic Search Complete is the world's most valuable and comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,990 full-text periodicals, including more than 5,030 peer-reviewed journals.

ACM Digital Library offers nearly 9,000 full-text articles from the journals, magazines, and conference proceedings, since 1991, of the Association for Computing Machinery, the world's oldest and largest educational and scientific computing society. Tables of Contents are cited from articles published in ACM journals and magazines (1985­) and conference proceedings. (Association for Computing Machinery)

African-American Poetry, 1760-1900 provides access to the full text of the works of over 2,500 poems by 54 African­American poets of the 18th and 19th centuries, including Phillis Wheatley and Paul Laurence Dunbar. The poetry covers a wide range of topics, and a variety of poetic styles and types including elegies, odes, ditties, hymns, and sonnets. (Electronic Text Center, University of Virginia)

AGRICOLA offers selective worldwide coverage of over three million citations to material acquired by the National Agricultural Library and cooperating institutions. It indexes journal articles, book chapters, computer databases and software, maps, manuscripts, serials and sound recordings on a broad range of agriculture and related topics. AIDS & Cancer Research database provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary coverage of the fields of virology, immunology, and oncology. This comprehensive index allows combined searching of the primary sources summarized and indexed in Virology and AIDS Abstracts, Oncogenes and Growth Factors Abstracts, and Immunology Abstracts.  (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)

Alt HealthWatch This database focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It offers libraries full text articles for more than 180 international, and often peer-reviewed journals and reports. In addition, there are hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts.

Alternative Press Index is a comprehensive guide to alternative sources of information. Coverage is international and interdisciplinary. Provides in-depth coverage in the humanities and social sciences. Indexes nearly 300 alternative, radical and left periodicals, newspapers and magazines. Includes selected abstracts from research journals. (OCLC)

Aluminum Industry Abstracts(AIA), formerly World Aluminum Abstracts (WAA), includes information abstracted from approximately 2,300 scientific and technical journals, government reports, conference proceedings, dissertations, books and patents. It offers easy access to information about testing, marketing, conferences, forecasts, company information, and the latest research on aluminum.  (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)

America: History and Life is a complete bibliographic database to over 2,000 journals that cover the United States and Canada prehistory to the present. In addition to articles, this extensive database includes approximately 6,000 citations of book and media reviews, and citations of abstracts of dissertations published in the field. (ABC-Clio, Inc.)

American History in Video provides the largest and richest collection of video available online for the study of American history allowing students and researchers to analyze historical events, and their presentation over time, through commercial and governmental newsreels, archival footage, public affairs footage, and important documentaries. American Chemical Society 30 core journals in chemistry provide researchers access to information from the leading American publisher of chemical information. (American Chemical Society)

American Mathematical Society is devoted to publishing research mathematics of high quality and significance in all areas of pure and applied mathematics. Each journal is unique in its offering of articles, book reviews, and reports. And each is managed by editors who are prominent in their fields. (American Mathematical Society)

American Poetry gathers the works of the most influential American poets, from the colonial period to the early twentieth century. American Poetry does not aim to be comprehensive, rather it contains the following to 1900: the complete works of all major poets, and the complete works of a substantial number of additional writers. Annual Reviews provide state-of-the-art reports by experts on the current scholarship in many fields, and are an invaluable support to faculty, graduate, and undergraduate inquiry. In addition to containing the full text of review essays published since 1996, tables of contents are included for 1984 to 1995, as well as previews of topics for upcoming annual issues. AP Images provides online access to more than 500,000 current, almost immediate, and historical photographs from the Associated Press Photo Archive. Article First over 12.7 million entries for the table of contents of over 12,000 sources with links to libraries that own the periodicals. (OCLC)

Arts & Humanities Search is the on-line version of the Institute for Scientific Information's Arts & Humanities Citation Index. It provides citations to articles from more than 1,300 arts and humanities journals and to relevant articles on arts and humanities in over 5,000 social science and science journals. (OCLC)

ASFA: Aquatic Sciences & Fisheries Abstracts is the premier aquatic reference covering over 5,000 serial publications, books, reports, and other literature dealing with the science, technology and management of marine, freshwater and brackish water environments. ASFA is comprised of five sub files: biological and living resources; ocean technology, policy and non-living resources, and aquatic pollution and environmental quality; aqua culture and marine biotechnology.  (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)

Associates Programs Source is designed specifically for junior & community colleges with a primary focus on disciplines of study within associate degrees and certification programs. Areas explored include accounting, agricultural sciences, child care services, cosmetology, culinary arts, forestry, food service management, graphic arts, hair dressing, hospitality management, interior design, journalism, plumbing, heating & air conditioning, veterinary technology and welding to name a few.

Biography and Genealogy Master Index identifies the location of nearly 12 million contemporary and historical biographical sketches. Information is culled from some 1,000 biographical dictionaries, subject encyclopedias, literary criticism, biographical indexes, and similar compilations, both current and retrospective. Biography Reference Bank includes over 46,000 biographical profiles from more than 100 print reference works. From an in depth biographical profile, users can click to full text articles, article abstracts, and index citations from over 4,000 periodicals. (H. W. Biological Sciences is an interdisciplinary database offering abstracts and citations to a wide range of research in biomedicine, biotechnology, zoology, ecology and some aspects of agriculture and veterinary science. It provides access to literature from over 6000 sources including serials, conference proceedings, technical reports, monographs and selected books and patents. (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)

Biology Digest is a compilation of abstracts and indexes of domestic and international literature in the area of life sciences. Its purpose is to aid in keeping students and instructors current on the latest developments in biological research. The lengthy abstracts provide considerable information and are written in non-technical language. (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)

BioOne is the product of innovative collaboration between scientific societies, libraries, academe and the private sector. BioOne brings to the Web a uniquely valuable aggregation of the full-texts of high-impact bioscience research journals. Most of BioOne’s titles are published by small societies and non-commercial publishers, and, until now, have been available only in printed form. BioOne provides integrated, cost-effective access to a thoroughly linked information resource of interrelated journals focused on the biological, ecological and environmental sciences.

Biotechnology and Bioengineering Abstracts provides bibliographic coverage of ground-breaking research across all areas of bioengineering and biotechnology, including industrial and applied microbiology, genetics, the human genome and genetic engineering. Abstracts are selected from over 2,000 sources including journals, conference proceedings, books, and technical reports.  (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)

Books in Print with Book Reviews provides complete publisher-verified information on all U.S. books in print. It includes more than 1.8 million new or revised records each year and covers scholarly, technical, popular, adult, juvenile, and reprint titles. Records describe in-print, out-of-print, and forthcoming books from more than 44,000 North American publishers and U.S. distributors and wholesalers. (Bowker)

Business and Management Practices contains citations to articles from 1995 to the present covering the practical aspects of business management and includes case studies and how-to articles from over 795 periodicals. (OCLC)

Business Source Complete is the world's definitive scholarly business database, providing the leading collection of bibliographic and full text content. As part of the comprehensive coverage offered by this database, indexing and abstracts for the most important scholarly business journals back as far as 1886 are included.

Cambridge University Press provides full text for over 100 journals in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Users have the ability to conduct searches, view tables of contents, and view abstracts for all CUP journals on this site. (Cambridge University Press)

Ceramics Abstracts/World Ceramics Abstracts is a comprehensive database for the ceramics industry, providing international coverage on the manufacture, processing, applications, properties and testing of traditional and advanced ceramics. Source materials include over 300 journals, conference proceedings, books, patents, and standards and company product literature.  (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)

Chronicle of Higher Education is the No. 1 source of news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators. A subscription to The Chronicle includes access to all of this Web site.

CIAO: Columbia International Affairs Online covers theory and research in international affairs. The database includes journal abstracts, conference proceedings and the full text of working papers and policy briefs from over 60 contributing institutions. Also included are economic indicators, maps and country data, and links to other resources. (Columbia University Press) 

CINAHL (includes Pre-CINAHL) is the online version of Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature, providing access to nearly 900 nursing, allied health, biomedical, and consumer health journals, books, dissertations, standards of professional practice, and educational software. It includes abstracts for over 300 journals since January 1986, and full text for many state nursing journals and professional standards. (EBSCO) 

Communication & Mass Media Complete offers cover-to-cover (“core”) indexing and abstracts for more than 440 journals, and selected (“priority”) coverage of nearly 200 more, for a combined coverage of more than 640 titles. Furthermore, this database includes full text for 326 journals.

Computer and Information Systems Abstracts provides a comprehensive monthly update on the latest theoretical research and practical computer applications around the world. It indexes over 800 scholarly journals and conference literature in computers and computer applications in fields from bioengineering to applied physics. (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)

Computers & Applied Sciences Complete provides indexing and abstracts for more than 1,800 academic journals, professional publications, and other reference sources from a diverse collection. Full text is also available for more than 730 periodicals.

Conference Papers Index provides citations to papers and poster sessions presented at major scientific meetings around the world. Subject emphasis since 1995 has been in the life sciences, environmental sciences and the aquatic sciences, while older material also covers physics, engineering and materials science. Consumer Health Complete is the single most comprehensive resource for consumer-oriented health content. It is designed to support patients' information needs and foster an overall understanding of health-related topics.

Consumers Index offers a subject index to the contents of over 100 periodicals. The database provides information categorized from general (the home) to more specific (automobiles), by periodical (Consumer Reports), or by a specific brand name (Coca-Cola). Web links provide direct access to the contents of free full-text journals, news releases, booklets, recalls, and other sources. (OCLC)

Contemporary Women's Issues database provides full text access to global information on women. It includes information on women from 200+ countries, bringing together such disciplines as sociology, psychology, health, education, and human rights. Journals, newsletters, research reports from non-profit groups, government and international agencies, along with fact sheets are available. Copper Data Center database indexes and abstracts the world's literature on copper, copper alloys and copper technology since 1965. This index also includes over 5,500 documents published between 1863 and 1964. It consists of two databases: one on copper technology and one on copper in the environment. Corrosion Abstracts provides the world's most complete bibliographic information in the area of corrosion science and engineering from 1980­present. International sources of literature are scanned and abstracted in the areas of general corrosion, testing, corrosion characteristics, preventive measures, materials construction and performance, and equipment for many industries. CQ Researcher covers the most current and controversial issues of the day with full text articles, complete summaries, insight into all sides of the issues, bibliographies, and more. Dissertation Abstracts Online covers doctoral dissertations submitted to accredited North American institutions and more than 200 institutions elsewhere. The database indexes dissertations from 1861 to the present, with abstracts available since 1980. Abstracts of master's theses have been included since 1988. (OCLC) 

EconLit is the American Economic Association's electronic bibliography of economic literature containing citations, with abstracts, to articles from more than 400 economics journals. In addition, subject indexing and abstracts of books and subject indexing of dissertation titles are included. Corresponding printed sources are Journal of Economic Literature, Index of Economic Articles, and Cambridge University Press Abstracts of Working Papers in Economics. (OCLC) 

Economia y Negocios More than 74,000 records, dating back to the early 1980s, provide coverage for over 300 Spanish and Portuguese-language periodicals published in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, the United States and elsewhere.

Education Research Complete provides indexing and abstracts for more than 1,840 journals, as well as full text for more than 950 journals, and includes full text for more than 81 books and monographs, and for numerous education-related conference papers.

Electronics and Communications Abstracts includes information that ranges from medical, scientific and industrial applications in electronics to new technologies in communications. Theoretical and applied research summaries are provided as well as business and marketing aspects.  (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts)

Engineered Materials Abstracts provides comprehensive coverage of the science, development and production of ceramics, polymers and composite materials. Over 1,600 sources including journals, technical reports, patents, dissertations, books and conference proceedings are indexed and abstracted. (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts) 

English Poetry contains the complete English poetic canon from Anglo-Saxon times to the end of the nineteenth century by writers from the British Isles. Overall the database contains over 165,000 poems drawn from about 4,500 separate printed sources by 1,257 named poets and includes many items by diverse anonymous hands. Every line by nearly every published poet can be searched. (Electronic Text Center, University of Virginia) 

English Verse Drama contains more than 1,500 works by around 450 named authors and approximately 230 anonymous works, from the Shrewsbury Fragments of the late thirteenth century through the unparalleled output of the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods to the end of the nineteenth century. The completeness of the collection, as well as the complete author notes to each work, provides a unique context for the historical and linguistic study of English literature. ENGnetBASE CRC Press is one of the world's leading publishers of engineering handbooks. Now the handbooks are available online. ENGnetBASE combines more than 160 top resources into one powerful research tool. (CRC Press)

Environment Complete offers deep coverage in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, renewable energy sources, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more. Environment Complete contains more than 1,957,000 records from more than 1,700 domestic and international titles going back to the 1940s (including 1,125 active core titles). The database also contains full text for more than 680 journals and 120 monographs.

Environmental Sciences & Pollution Management offers a multi-disciplinary database of key areas of environmental science, including toxic hazards of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and other substances; air, marine, and freshwater pollution. Abstracts and citations are drawn from over 4,000 scientific journals and thousands of other sources. (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts) 

ERIC (EBSCO or U.S. Dept. of Education) Educational Resources Information Center database, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, provides extensive access to educational-related literature. The ERIC database corresponds to print editions of Resources in Education (RIE) and Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE). It indexes and abstracts over 14,000 documents and over 20,000 journal articles, as well as other related sources. Full text of ERIC Digests is also included.

Essay and General Literature Index is a bibliographic database that cites essays and articles contained in collections of essays and miscellaneous works published in the United States, Great Britain, and Canada. More than 300 volumes are indexed annually. Additionally, more than 20 annuals and serial publications are indexed. Essay and General Literature Index also provides full bibliographic information on collective titles indexed. Essay and General Literature Index focuses on the humanities and social sciences, with subject coverage ranging from economics, political science, and history to criticism of literary works, drama, and film. Ethnic Newswatch is a full-text collection of the newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press. A rich collection of articles, editorials, columns, reviews, etc. provide a broad diversity of perspectives and viewpoints --the other side of the stories. The database includes Spanish language publications and a Spanish language search option is available. Free text searching and complete indexing makes Ethnic Newswatch easy to search. Factiva offers quick access to current business news from the world's most respected sources, same day access to many of the world's top newspapers, in-depth research on a company, industry or marketplace, a searchable database of more than 8,000 publications, and is the exclusive archive for The Wall Street Journal. (Dow Jones & Company, Inc.) 

Fuente Academica provides full text (including PDF) for a rapidly growing collection of scholarly Spanish language journals. This multi-disciplinary database offers full text content to many academic areas.

Gale Virtual Reference Library includes multi-volume encyclopedias, biographical collections, consumer health references, and specialized reference sources. Subjects covered include arts and humanities, biography and genealogy, business and industries, general and consumer interests, government and political science, health and medicine, law, science and technology, and social sciences.

GEOBASE provides comprehensive bibliographic references to important journals in the fields of physical and human geography, geology, mineralogy, ecology and development studies. It is the only database in these fields to include abstracts. International in scope, GEOBASE provides valuable coverage from over 2,000 primary journals, books, monographs, reports, and theses. GEOBASE contains 600,000 records, updated quarterly, from 1980 to the present. (OCLC)

Global Issues in Context supports research in virtually every corner of the library and in a wide variety of subject areas, including sociology, current events, civics, politics, science, economics, cultural/religious studies, women’s studies, human rights, English composition and many more. Issues and countries form the core of this dynamic product, which uses a wealth of resources to explain the historical and contemporary conditions necessary to understand global issues, conflicts and events. GPO Monthly Catalog contains listings for documents printed by the U.S. government and its agencies since July 1976. It covers all types of U.S. government documents, including congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records, judiciary materials, and documents issued by executive departments (Defense, State, Labor, and Office of the President, etc.). Each record contains a bibliographic citation.  (OCLC)

GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records.

HarpWeek 1857-1883 provides access to the content and pages of Harper's Weekly. The Civil War Era section covers issues published from 1857­1883. The database provides indexing that matches 19th century words, phrases and images with today's terminology as well as digital images of every page of the magazine. Searches can be done by occupation or role in society, or by searching any combination of four indexes: subject, illustrations, literature, and publishing. (HarpWeek, LLC.) 

Health Source: Consumer ed. is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide, providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source: Consumer Edition provides access to nearly 80 full text, consumer health magazines.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic ed. provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names.

Highwire Press is the Internet imprint of the Stanford University Libraries and the producer of online scholarly journals in the sciences and medicine. The online journals produced by Highwire include links among authors, articles and citations, advanced searching capabilities, high-resolution images and multimedia, and interactivity. Historical Abstracts is an index to the history of the world from 1450 to the present (for the United States and Canada see AMERICA: HISTORY AND LIFE). Over 2,000 journals published throughout the world are covered in the database, including key historical journals, and historical books and citations to abstracts of dissertations of interest for historical research. (ABC-Clio, Inc.)

History Resource Center: US provides integrated access to over 4,000 historical (primary) documents, articles from more than 30 reference titles, and over 110 full-text journal covering themes, events, individuals and periods in U.S. history from pre-Colonial times to the present. The material also includes citations from over 180 additional history journals from the Institute for Scientific Information's Arts and Humanities Citation Index, as well as the entire "American Journey Online" series. History Resource Center: World is a comprehensive collection of award-winning reference, full-text articles from leading scholarly publications, an array of primary sources, and images, maps and charts which provide expansive geographic and chronologic research materials for the study of world history. From ancient Europe to Latin America and from the Far East to the Renaissance, world history curricula is supported with over 1,800 primary sources, over 27 reference titles and more than 110 journals. Hospitality & Tourism Complete collection contains more than 749,000 records, with coverage dating as far back as 1965. There is full text for 440 publications, including periodicals, company & country reports, and books.

Humanities International Complete includes all data from Humanities International Index (more than 2,100 journals and 2.47 million records) plus unique full text content, much of which is not found in other databases. The database includes full text for more than 890 journals.

IEEE Xplore is an online delivery system providing full text access to the world's highest quality technical literature in electrical engineering, computer science, and electronics. IEEE Xplore contains full text documents from IEEE journals, transactions, magazines, letters, conference proceedings, standards, and IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers) publications.

Issues and Controversies on File presents and enhances the full backfile of Issues and Controversies On File, which has probed about 600 controversial topics in the news since its debut in September 1995. Chronologies, illustrations, maps, tables, sidebars, bibliographies and contact information augment the balanced, accurate coverage of current and historical events. Journals@Ovid database is an aggregate of hundreds of scientific, technical, and medical journals from over 50 publishers and societies and provides access to the full text of nursing journals, including the American Journal of Nursing, as well as citations to hundreds of other journals. Limiting searches to only full text journals is available through Your Journals@Ovid. (Ovid Technologies, Inc.)

JSTOR is a not-for-profit organization with a dual mission to create and maintain a trusted archive of important scholarly journals, and to provide access to these journals as widely as possible. JSTOR offers researchers the ability to retrieve high-resolution, scanned images of journal issues and pages as they were originally designed, printed, and illustrated.

Legal Collection contains full text for more than 250 of the world's most respected, scholarly law journals.

LexisNexis Academic provides searchable access to a comprehensive spectrum of full-text information from over 5,600 sources, selected to meet academic research needs, including: national and regional newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, international news, and non-English language sources U.S. Federal and state case law, codes, regulations, legal news, law reviews, and international legal information Shepard's Citations for all U.S. Supreme Court cases back to 1789 Business news journals, company financial information, SEC filings and reports, and industry and market news. LexisNexis Congressional brings together a vast amount of information published by and about the United States Congress. It offers indexing and abstracting of the CIS/Index to Publications of the U.S. Congress from 1970 forward and a seamless link to the full range of legislative and public policy resources, including hearing transcripts, bills, reports, public laws, Federal Register, current Code of Federal Regulations and current U.S. Code. (LexisNexis)

Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) indexes more than 500 core journals, more than 50 priority journals, and 125 selective journals; plus books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.
