Scope of this guide: find articles and books on business topics, company and industry reports, economic and demographic data, and information on business plans, taxes, licenses, and regulation.

Browse TCC library shelves in these areas:

Example broad search topics:  company, executive, product, or industry name; type of business such as accounting, advertising, industrial management, or small business; business terms such as profit, commerce, entrepreneur, or capital.

Business Databases (use MyTCC ID to login from off-campus)

Business Source Complete:   Provides full text for journal and magazine articles in all business disciplines, as well as financial data, case studies, investment research reports, industry reports, market research reports, country reports, company profiles, SWOT analyses, and more.

Econlit:  Search for economics topics in academic journal abstracts, book reviews, and working papers.  Selected fulltext documents are available.

Factiva:  Access local, national, and international news and trade magazine articles.  Get current and recent historical quotes for stocks, funds, currencies, and market indexes.  Company reports include business descriptions, press releases, financials, and competitor lists.  “News Pages” section provides convenient daily access to major news publications for different regions of the world.

LexisNexis:  Click the “Business” button to search for company information including news, business description, corporate hierarchy, executives, and competitors.

Library Catalog:  Find books and videos on business topics available at TCC libraries.

Mergent Horizon: Find, filter and organize information about companies that are actively traded on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ--over 6,200 in total, with product-level detail for 3,700 companies in the Healthcare, Technology, Media and Finance sectors.

Mergent Online: Search a comprehensive global company database, including business description, history, property, subsidiaries, officers and directors, long-term debt, capital stock, and industry reports.

Safari Books Online:  Access full text books covering topics in Business, E-Commerce and many Information Technology subject areas.

Wiley Interscience Journals:  Browse and search academic journals in business fields – use the “subject area” list to focus your search in business and economics journals.

Federal Government Resources

Business.gov – Provides information, forms, and links to federal government agencies for taxes, regulations, safety, finance, government contracting, and more.

Business & Industry from the U.S. Census – Access the Economic Census, Survey of Business Owners, County Business Patterns, North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) and more.

Bureau of Labor Statistics – Find and download data from the U.S. Department of Labor, including wages, productivity, employment, spending, and demographic data.

EDGAR – Search company filings with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, such as 10-K and 10-Q reports, as well as SEC regulations, news, litigation, and investor information.

globalEDGE - Find reports on countries, U.S. states, industries and international business statistics. Also provides course modules, syllabi and other content for international business courses. Some content requires registration and fees. Provided by Michigan State University.

Harvard Business School Working Knowledge – Provides essays and working papers authored by the business faculty at Harvard University.

Knowledge@Wharton – Access essays and working papers authored by the business faculty at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business (requires free registration).
