Art Resource High
quality images of works of painting, sculpture, architecture and
the minor arts from most of the world’s major museums, monuments,
and commercial archives.

Getty
Vocabularies: Art and Architecture Thesaurus and Union List of
Artists Name Produced by the Getty Museum, contains 131 thousand

museum.
Jacques Berger Foundation: Interactive
art web site with digital reproductions covering broad span of various
art epochs, though concentrating in ancient and renaissance art
Librarians' Index to
the Internet: Art Resources Portal with all sites examined
and established by a librarians to be integrity based. Includes
Art by Region, African American Art, Cartoonists, and genres of
art such as Photography and Pottery.
Library Congress American Memory
Digital Collection: Excellent resource of digitized material
particularly photographs, all of which seeks to serve to document
the various American epochs and movements.
Museums Contributing
Images to the Art Museum Image Gallery: Compilation of various
American art museums that offer searchable databases in the art
they exhibit.
Museums
in the United States and Europe: Large compilation of links
to museums in United States, Canada as
well as Europe.
National Foundation for the Arts: Primary
grant and fellowship foundation for work and study in various forms
and mediums of fine arts.
New York Public Library Digital
Collection: Close to half a million of documentary photographs
as well as scanned book material.
Smithsonian Art Inventory
Catalog: Includes an inventory of American painting before
1914, as well as an inventory of American sculpture. The catalog
includes bibliographic information on over 335 thousand artworks,
including where one can find particular work. The catalog does
not include pictures or the work.
Timeline of World Art: Published
by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this resource allows one to search
epoch and schools or art as well as view art produced in that era.
Web Gallery of Art: Virtual database
with over 15 thousand digital images concentrating in renaissance
period.
World Wide Art Resources: The largest site
for contemporary art, art news, art history, contemporary artist
and gallery portfolios.
