Events

TCC hosts several college events to recognize the generosity of our individual, foundation, and corporate partnerships. Through the contributions of our community partners, the college continues to meet the needs of Hampton Roads with high-quality academic programs and innovative workforce development opportunities.

TCC Godwin Legacy Society Luncheon 2009

President DiCroce hosted the TCC Educational Foundation Godwin Legacy Society Luncheon on June 2, 2009 at the Roper Performing Arts Center. The annual event recognizes donors who have included TCC in their estate plans. The Godwin Legacy Society donors ultimately provide for the future of TCC with their planned gift.

Judy Witt, a member of the TCC Educational Foundation, shared remarks about Nina Garry, one of the members of the Godwin Legacy Society. Click here for Mrs. Witt's remarks.

Gerald Hagen, Jr., a partner at Goodman and Company, served as the keynote speaker. He is the President of the Virginia Gift Planning Council and has extensive experience in estate planning and wealth transfer.  Hagen offered a brief introduction to the many opportunities associated with estate planning, including tax incentives and the benefits to families and charitable organizations. In the conclusion of his remarks, Hagen advised donors to talk to their professional advisors to take advantage of charitable gift planning to provide for their families and organizations.

We want to thank all of the Godwin Legacy Society Members for attending this event and for including TCC in their estate plan.

TCC Educational Foundation Scholarship Luncheon 2009

In recognition of our generous scholarship donors, President DiCroce hosted the annual luncheon on Wednesday,

April 1, 2009 at the Roper Performing Arts Center. This event is an opportunity for scholarship recipients to thank their scholarship donors for the contributions that make their education possible. During the 2008-2009 academic year, TCC awarded over $125,000 in scholarship support to over 120 TCC students.

Speaking this year on behalf of our student recipients was Kaitlin Burke, recipient of the Betty L. Shores Memorial Scholarship and the T. Michael Laney Memorial Science Scholarship. In addition to her campus leadership as Vice President of Phi Theta Kappa, Kaitlin has excelled at TCC academically and will graduate in May with an Associate of Science degree; she plans to transfer to the College of William and Mary and ultimately attend medical school. Kaitlin expressed her gratitude to the scholarship donors that made it possible for her to attend TCC and to participate in the Brookhaven National Laboratory's mini-college semester studying ionic liquids. Dr. David Shores and scholarship recipient and student speaker Kaitlin Burke.
Elaine Griffiths, Chief Nursing Officer at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center (CRMC), gave remarks on behalf of TCC's scholarship donors. CRMC is one of TCC's newest scholarship partners and has established full scholarships for three nursing students with the offer of future employment at CRMC. Griffiths recognized the mutual benefit of the scholarship to both the students and the region's health professions workforce.  Click here for Elaine's remarks.

President DiCroce congratulates two scholarship recipients.

We want to thank of all of our donors and students for attending this annual event and look forward to future opportunities to recognize your contributions to TCC.
