Arts & Humanities Search  is the on-line version of the Institute for Scientific Information's Arts & Humanities Citation Index. It provides citations to articles from more than 1,300 arts and humanities journals and to relevant articles on arts and humanities in over 5,000 social science and science journals.

Literature Resource Center Full text. Gale Research complete reference center offering biographies, bibliographies, and full text criticisms of authors and their work. Essays on authors genres, literary movements, themes, and topics. Includes Contemporary Authors, Dictionary of Literary Biography, Scribner Writer Series, Twayne's Authors Series, and more.

Essay & General Literature Index offers precise access to nearly 65,000 essays contained in some 5,300 anthologies and collections—a wealth of information that might be otherwise hidden away in your library.

JSTOR a comprehensive database of backlisted journals, including over 1 hundred literature and english journals.

MLA International Bibliography indexes critical scholarship on literature, language, linguistics, and folklore.

OmniFile Full Text Select from H.W. Wilson indexes, abstracts, and provides full text for over 900 periodicals. The database includes records back to 1994 for selected publications. Coverage includes art, education, and the humanities and social sciences.

Oxford University Press is the world's largest university press, and has an international reputation for the quality and diversity of its publishing program.

Project Muse full text scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences and mathematics.

Internet Resources: 
Citing resources is part of our research papers subject guide.

Electronic Text Center at UVA includes approximately 40,000 on- and off-line humanities texts in twelve languages, with more than 19,000 related images (book illustrations, covers, manuscripts, newspaper pages, museum objects, etc.)

Focus: Fiction resources on writers, bestsellers, etc. Search by genre such as historical, horror, mystery, etc.

Gale's Literary Index is a master index to the major literature products published by Gale. It combines and cross references more than 138,000 author names, including pseudonyms and variant names, and more than 176,000 titles into one source.

Norton Websource to American Literature is an online companion to the Norton Anthology of American Literature, 5th edition.

A Literary Index provides overview and review of Internet literary resources.  Includes links to archives of electronic texts.

Literary Resources on the Net an index to English and American literature resources and genres such as theatre and drama, women's literature, and ethnicities and nationalities.

On-Line Books Page index to over 9,000 online books.

Online Literary Criticism Collection from the Internet Public Library offers critical and biographical web sites about authors and their works that can be browsed by author, title, or literary period. 

Project Gutenberg 25 thousand full-text novels all published before 1922 and available from public domain.
